Let us know a little about yourself?

I've been married for 47 years. I have a Ph.D. I speak read and write four languages.

Why did you decide/have you decided to move to Italy?

I love Italy. My husband's Italian. I'm Italian,too, by marriage.

What type of process did you go through to be able to move here?

I dealt with the consulate in Miami and obtained or had all along citizenship juris matrimonis.

What problems did you run into during the initial process and how were you able to fix them ?

No problems. I dealt with Ilaria Cacopardo in Miami. I translated my own documents. I had to have my birth certificate authenticated which took a while, but was not really a problem.

If you haven't gotten here yet, what steps are you in the process of ?

Franco, my husband, born in Perugia wants very much to move back. We rented an apartment on Lago Trasimeno from March to September 2006. We hope to return this year. The Euro is holding us back.

How long have you been here?

Six months lately; five years a long time ago

What type of adjustment problems have you had?

None really. I just need to live in a place that's within walking distance of shops.

What do you wish someone had told you before you made the leap?

I got lots of good info on this web site. I still need to know more about shipping furniture,etc.

What inside secret could you pass on to others looking to move over?

Rent first. Be careful. Find someone who speaks your language, not an interested party who can guide you.

Do you have any disappointments, things you thought would happen but haven't for whatever reasons ?

I'm disappointed at how much Italy has changed since I first knew it. I'm shocked by the graffiti and the empty farmhouses.

What has changed about you since you have been here ?

Nothing. I'm adaptable.

Do you think that you will stay forever?

If I could move this furniture, yes!!! I want to die in Italy.
